Depart from Moshi in the morning to Umbwe Gate for registration. Meet your professional mountain crew including guides, cooks and porters. Begin trekking through dense rainforest with moss-covered trees and rich vegetation. The trail is steep and adventurous, making Umbwe ideal for experienced hikers.

Continue trekking along a ridge leaving the forest behind and entering moorland vegetation. Arrive at Barranco Camp, one of the most scenic camps on Kilimanjaro, surrounded by giant senecio plants and spectacular valley views.

• Habitat: Moorland
• Overnight: Barranco Camp
After breakfast climb the famous Barranco Wall, an exciting scramble requiring some use of hands. Continue through alpine terrain before descending into Karanga Valley for acclimatization.

• Habitat: Alpine desert
• Overnight: Karanga Camp
Trek through dry alpine desert landscape toward Barafu Camp. Enjoy spectacular views of Kibo peak glaciers including Heim, Kersten and Decken glaciers. Prepare for midnight summit attempt.

• Habitat: Alpine desert
• Overnight: Barafu Camp
Begin the summit attempt at midnight. Trek through the arctic zone to Stella Point before continuing to the summit of Africa at Uhuru Peak. Celebrate your achievement and descend to Mweka Camp.

• Habitat: Arctic summit zone
• Overnight: Mweka Camp
Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you receive your summit certificates before transferring back to Moshi.
